On July 18, 2016 Dr. Amrik Singh Cheema Foundation Trust celebrated 50 years of Green Revolution. The inaugural function was held at Tagore theater. The event highlighted the achievements in agriculture, importance of agriculture, it’s contribution to the Indian economy, and aimed to discuss and find effective solutions to challenges ahead that are faced by the farming communities. The golden jubilee celebration also focused on encouraging farmers and youth back to farming. Agriculture has great potential for creating employment and opportunities.

The Chairman of the foundation Jagdeep Singh Cheema expressed the need for creating an Indian Agriculture Service with technocrats to take agriculture forward.

Hon’ble Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor Punjab, Haryana and Administrator Chandigarh U.T. was chief guest. The Republic of Congo is the partner country. The event was attended by young agricultural entrepreneurs, thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and around Chandigarh (U.T.).

The focus of the seminars has been to raise the understanding of the problems of small farmers at the village level and to encourage self-help and networking and to find their own solutions and present their needs to government and private sectors.
